World's Largest Mobile Israeli Flag Raised at Haifa Port for Rosh Hashanah
The world's largest mobile Israeli flag, standing 40 meters tall, was raised at the Port of Haifa ahead of Rosh Hashanah to symbolize national resilience and hope.

Ahead of Rosh Hashanah, the world's largest mobile Israeli flag, towering at an impressive height of approximately 40 meters, was raised at the Port of Haifa. The initiative, designed to strengthen national unity and pride ahead of the new year, was positioned near the Palmer Gate at the port, a strategic location allowing it to be viewed from wide areas of the city, the Haifa Bay, and even from ships visiting the sea. The flag, routinely housed at the Flag House in Kfar Shmaryahu, was recently submitted as an official candidate for the Guinness World Records.
The transport and installation of the flag were made possible thanks to close and swift cooperation between the Haifa Municipality, the Haifa Port management, project initiators, and the "El HaDegel" association, led by Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav, City CEO David Lurie, and social activist Nir Shuber. The municipality invites the general public and vacationers to visit the complex during the holiday days, admire the huge display, and take pictures next to it.
Symbol of Resilience and Hope
Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav addressed the symbolic meaning of the move at this time:
There is something symbolic and moving in the fact that right on the eve of the new year, the Israeli flag flutters over the Port of Haifa, visible from many parts of the city and the sea. Haifa has known difficult days in recent years. Our city was attacked in wars, we coped with sirens and threats, but we remained upright, strong, and proud. The huge flag fluttering today over the port symbolizes this resilience, and at the threshold of a new year, it mainly symbolizes hope.
Management at the Haifa Port also welcomed the initiative and emphasized the historic connection of the place to Israeli revival. Acting Haifa Port CEO David Cohen noted: "A short distance from the place where David Ben-Gurion raised the flag in the first Israeli port 78 years ago, we are proudly raising the huge Israeli flag today. This is a powerful symbol of the historic connection between the Port of Haifa, the city of Haifa, and the State of Israel."
Port President Sumit Chauhan added: "Just before the new year, this flag symbolizes the strong and tightening bond between the port and the city. We are proud to be an inseparable part of the landscape and wish all the residents of Haifa and the north a happy year, full of success and good tidings."
