Border Police and Parks Authority Seize Protected Wildlife Near Tulkarem
Border Police and the Nature and Parks Authority rescued protected wildlife, including deer and badgers, in Tulkarem, arresting a local resident.
Border Police fighters and inspectors from the Nature and Parks Authority located two deer and two badgers in the village of Shuweika near Tulkarem, following an investigation by the Central Unit of the Border Police into the illegal possession of protected wildlife. The animals were held illegally, and inspectors tranquilized and captured them for further care.
During the operation, a resident of Tulkarem in his 60s was arrested and transferred for further questioning. This follows a similar incident earlier in the year when Tel Aviv police and environmental protection units raided an apartment, recovering animals stolen from the Gan Guru Australian Park in the Beit Shean Valley, including an albino wallaby, blue-tongued skinks, and a hedgehog.
