Security forces intervened to halt the relocation of a livestock herd to a contested pasture near Majd al-Krum and Gilon, following explicit warnings from the Shin Bet and Israel Police regarding potential nationalist riots. The decision comes amid escalating tensions ahead of the upcoming Jewish holidays.
According to sources within the Jewish National Fund (JNF), the herd owner was instructed to temporarily divert dozens of goats to a JNF facility in the Galilee until after Sukkot. Security officials expressed severe concerns that the arrival of young activists from the West Bank could ignite widespread violent clashes in the area.
While the JNF maintains that the farmer, Gabi Damari, holds a valid lease for the 1,050-dunum plot to graze animals and clear brush to prevent fires, strict conditions have been imposed for any future return. The JNF stated that the enclosure will be strictly limited in size, with a maximum of three to five personnel permitted on-site.
Local residents and municipal officials in Majd al-Krum and the Misgav region strongly condemned the establishment of the outpost, viewing it as a dangerous provocation mirroring West Bank settlement tactics. Protesters warned that the presence of religious youths threatens long-standing Jewish-Arab coexistence in the region.
