Defense Attorney Indicted for Extortion and Threats in Kiryat Malachi
Prominent Israeli defense attorney Alon Kriti has been indicted for extortion and threats following a dispute over unpaid loans involving criminal associates.
Criminal Charges Filed Against Prominent Defense Attorney
An indictment has been filed against prominent criminal defense attorney Alon Kriti for extortion under threats, following an investigation into a debt collection dispute. According to the Central District Prosecutor's Office, Kriti allegedly threatened a former client who owed money to him and a relative.
Extortion Recordings and Police Investigation
According to the indictment, the complainant borrowed 50,000 shekels in 2025, returning only 30,000 shekels, and subsequently took an additional 20,000 shekels from Kriti's relative early this year. Recordings broadcasted by media outlets revealed explicit threats made to the victim.
"Within an hour, guys will be at your house," Kriti was recorded telling the complainant, accompanying the verbal warnings with abusive language.
Following the threats, two individuals known to the local police arrived at the victim's residence in Kiryat Malachi. The complainant immediately contacted the police emergency hotline (100) to report death threats. Investigators from the Kiryat Malachi police station launched a covert operation which ultimately led to the identification of the defense attorney as the primary suspect.
Ongoing House Arrest and Judicial Proceedings
Despite the evidence presented, Kriti has denied all allegations during questioning. The court ordered that the attorney remain under house arrest with electronic monitoring until the conclusion of legal proceedings.
