Undercover Agent Exposes Protection Racket in Beersheba Sting Operation

The affair began in Beersheba following a wave of complaints from local business owners who suffered from systematic protection fee extortion in the Emek Sara industrial zone. In response, the Rotem sub-district of the Southern District made a strategic decision to deploy an undercover agent to infiltrate the local mafia and bring the extortionists to justice. Agent A was recruited for the mission and sent to establish a fictitious business in the city. Unusually, Agent A agreed to step forward and speak publicly for the first time about the complex reality he experienced in the field.

The Extortionists Arrive

Even before Agent A could get his new business up and running, the extortionists arrived. Exclusive footage published now reveals for the first time the threatening modus operandi of the racketeers. All the while, behind the scenes of the complex operation, Agent A's wife and children remained completely in the dark, knowing nothing about his identity as an undercover agent risking his life.

"We refused to yield to their pressure, despite the constant threats and the break-in at the facility," noted law enforcement sources regarding the delicate operation.

At a certain point, after the intelligence file matured and all extortion incidents were fully documented and recorded, the Rotem sub-district gave the order to move to the arrest phase. Following the successful operation, severe indictments for extortion under threat and additional offenses were filed against seven detainees.

In the background, a disturbing statistic highlights the scale of the phenomenon: in the past year alone, a sharp 32% increase was recorded in the number of protection racket cases opened in the Rotem sub-district alone. Police noted that the operation was carried out as part of a joint and declared campaign by Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gvir, Police Commissioner Danny Levy, and Southern District Commander Haim Bublil.
