Nahariya Hospital Doctor Detained for Drunk Driving in Parking Lot
A senior deputy department head at a Nahariya hospital was detained after crashing his car in the parking lot while driving with an alcohol level nearly four times the legal limit.
A deputy department head at a hospital in Nahariya was detained today (Sunday) after driving under the influence and crashing into a vehicle in the hospital parking lot. Police officers administered a breathalyzer test, registering an astonishing alcohol level nearly four times the legal limit. When asked how he arrived at work in such a state, he casually replied that he knew it was a day without scheduled surgeries.
Police reported that the senior physician, a Haifa resident in his 50s, attempted to flee the scene after hitting the parked car. An officer stationed nearby intercepted and stopped him at the exit gate. A strong odor of alcohol emanated from the driver, and the breathalyzer test showed a reading of 972 micrograms of alcohol per liter of breath.
His vehicle was immediately seized and towed following the preliminary investigation. His driver's license was suspended for 60 days, and he received a formal summons to appear in court. The Israel Police stated that they view drunk driving with extreme severity and will maintain a zero-tolerance policy against drivers who endanger public safety.
