Israeli Singer Tamir Gal Mourns the Loss of His Niece
Israeli singer Tamir Gal is mourning the death of his niece, Yaarit, just two years after losing his sister to a rare disease, adding to a painful family tragedy.

Israeli singer Tamir Gal, a prominent figure in Mediterranean and Turkish-style music, is mourning another profound family tragedy. Just two years after his sister passed away from Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, her daughter, Yaarit, has died following a prolonged illness and months of hospitalization.
This heartbreaking loss adds to a chain of painful tragedies that have struck the family in recent years. In an interview with TMI, Gal shared his immense grief over his niece: "Two years after my sister passed away, I buried her daughter. She was a girl with a huge heart, all about giving. Whom didn't she help? Soldiers, fighters—she went and gave everything. Just a pure, good heart."
Despite the complex days and family upheaval, the veteran artist made it clear that he chooses to hold on to life: "We go from death to death, from joy to joy, holding on to life, moving forward, and there is something to live for."
Gal burst into the public consciousness in 1993 with his debut album 'The Path of Happiness' and the hit song 'Shalom Lach Sigal'—which, incidentally, was written in the wake of the search for his sister who was murdered. He has maintained a career spanning over three decades, featuring hit albums, documentary films about his life, and new musical projects.
