Arik Sinai Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Secrets of His Reality TV Return
Veteran Israeli singer Arik Sinai reveals the surprising behind-the-scenes conditions he set before joining the Eurovision selection reality show, including a teleprompter and an elimination safety net.

Veteran Israeli singer Arik Sinai has opened up about his surprising participation in the reality show "The Next Star for Eurovision", revealing the unusual conditions he set for the production before agreeing to step on stage. Sinai shared that when he received an unexpected midday phone call from the show's chief editor and director Yoav Tzafir, he initially assumed he was being asked to join as a mentor, only to discover they wanted him as a regular competing contestant.
Speaking on Moshe Becker's podcast "One Plus One", Sinai recounted his meeting with Tzafir, Tami Yardeni, and the production team. While the producers braced themselves for a tough financial negotiation, Sinai surprised them by asking for no money at all. Instead, he made only two simple requests: an earpiece monitor and a teleprompter for the lyrics, admitting to a lifelong struggle with memorizing texts.
To secure his peace of mind, Sinai also negotiated an exit strategy with Tzafir out of fear of an embarrassing early elimination. Tzafir reassured the legendary performer by guaranteeing that if he failed the initial audition, the footage would never be broadcast, allowing him to step on stage with complete confidence.
