Elderly Man Shot Dead in Shefa-Amr Home in Suspected Revenge Killing
An 82-year-old man was shot dead in his Shefa-Amr home in a suspected revenge attack linked to his grandson's arrest in a foiled Hariri crime family hit plot.
An 82-year-old man, Ibrahim Bushkar, was shot and killed on Friday inside his home in Shefa-Amr by masked assailants who fired 13 bullets at him. His son, who was by his side, was also wounded in the shooting. When the son tried to escape, the gunmen continued to fire at him, but he managed to hide in the bathroom and lock the door, sustaining light injuries. The victim's wife was in another room at the time and found him mortally wounded upon returning.
Suspected Motive and Police Investigation
According to suspicions, the murder was carried out as revenge against the elderly man's grandson—the son of the wounded man—who was arrested the day before along with two other suspects on their way to carry out a targeted assassination on behalf of the Hariri crime family. The intended target of that thwarted hit reportedly learned of the plot and retaliated by sending masked men to murder Bushkar in Shefa-Amr. The murder was executed by two gunmen, accompanied by a third suspect waiting in a getaway car.
This is a brutal murder inside a home. Ibrahim had many good years left to live. Unfortunately, they came and murdered him today without him having any connection to any conflict, said grieving family members.
Stastistics and Thwarted Hit
With this incident, the death toll in the Arab sector since the beginning of the year has reached 182. A day prior to the murder, the Israel Police announced the arrest of a hit squad linked to the Hariri crime family, which included the elderly victim's grandson. Officers from the Central Unit (YAMAR) of the Coastal District and the Lahav 433 national fraud unit intercepted the armed squad red-handed.
According to police statements, investigators tracked the cell following intelligence indications. Detectives conducted a proactive arrest operation, detaining four suspects—three in their 20s from Shefa-Amr and one in his 40s from Ibtin. Three of the suspects were caught masked and in possession of M16 rifles equipped with silencers.
