The transfer began this morning and was completed in the evening hours.
According to a report in the Greek newspaper "Kathimerini", based on its sources, the battery was moved with its equipment and personnel and is expected to be deployed in the area of the Souda base. The decision was made a few days after Iranian threats to attack bases used by the USA in Europe. On the Greek television network Mega TV, it was noted that the move came after a publication in the "Financial Times" regarding the Iranian threat.
According to "Kathimerini", the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Greek Army have been on alert since the beginning of last week and are examining the level of threat and the steps required to protect targets and sensitive infrastructure within the country's territory.
Meanwhile, according to the report on Mega TV, the Greek Ministry of Defense is also considering returning to Greece the Greek Patriot battery currently stationed in Saudi Arabia and operated by a Greek crew.
