Vibrant Latin American Restaurant L'Maya Opens in Kfar Saba
L'Maya, a new Latin American restaurant in Kfar Saba, offers vibrant continental flavors, handmade empanadas, and Peruvian ceviche in a tribute to May Naim.
Latin American cuisine is bringing a vibrant splash of color to Israel's culinary scene with the opening of L'Maya in Kfar Saba. Founded by seasoned hospitality veterans Noga Biga-Sasson and chef Noam Sasson, the restaurant pays tribute to May Naim, the granddaughter of well-known football coach Shlomo Sharf, who was tragically murdered at the Nova music festival.
Located in the Kfar Saba industrial zone, L'Maya transports diners to a sun-drenched fusion of Mexico and Texas. The interior features terracotta-colored walls adorned with vibrant ceramics, while the menu highlights exceptional local ingredients including fresh corn, avocados, and limes grown by agricultural friends of the couple.
A Flavorful Journey Through Latin America
The menu spans a wide array of continental specialties, featuring airy bread rolls served with decadent corn butter for 19 shekels, and Brazilian fish cakes made from sea bream and charred eggplant for a smoky touch. Standout items include classic burritos, quesadillas priced at 44 shekels, chipotle corn soup at 29 shekels, and a Peruvian corn ceviche for 59 shekels that balances sweet corn, tender fish, and zesty lime.
"We didn't want just a Mexican spot, because that cuisine is often pigeonholed as mere street food," explains Noam Sasson regarding their vision for a comprehensive Latin American concept.
Empanadas and Sweet Endings
The empanadas are handmade from scratch, boasting a delicate, crispy dough and served with three distinct dips: sour cream, salsa verde, and salsa chipotle. A portion of two pieces costs 49 shekels, offering an authentic taste rarely found locally. For dessert, guests can enjoy long, crispy Spanish churros alongside the signature 'May Cake'—a rich, comforting chocolate cake served with caramel sauce and whipped cream in memory of May Naim.
L'Maya is located at 3 Ha-Yotsrim Street in Kfar Saba, operating Monday through Saturday from noon to 11 PM.
