Luis Carlos Roa, known in Colombia as the anonymous anti-corruption activist "Elefante Blanco," has been elected to the Senate. He arrived at his swearing-in ceremony wearing his signature white elephant costume to highlight his commitment to fighting the misuse of public funds.

Progressives love him for his populist economic messages, the Democratic establishment loves him because he avoids extreme statements: Senator Jon Ossoff from Georgia is young, photogenic, and Jewish, and his attitude toward Israel ranges from support to criticism. In the polls, he is already standing out as a "rockstar."
