US-Iran Military Confrontation Could Follow Midterms, Analyst Warns
Diplomatic analyst Amihai Stein warns that a major US-Iran military confrontation could follow the US midterms, as Washington weighs strategic strikes against nuclear and energy infrastructure amid ongoing regional force deployments.

A major military confrontation between the United States and Iran could materialize shortly after the US midterm elections, according to diplomatic analyst Amihai Stein. Speaking to 103fm radio, Stein outlined the strategic calculations in Washington and the potential for a large-scale joint operation.
Strategic Calculations Post-Midterms
Stein noted that US President Donald Trump may seek a decisive military initiative following the midterms, particularly if his administration faces legislative setbacks in Congress. The proposed window for such an operation extends between the midterms and the swearing-in of the new Congress in January. According to media reports, preparations include identifying key objectives and assessing military readiness.
Force Buildup and Regional Concerns
Regarding military logistics, Stein pointed out that US force deployments in the region are ongoing, with a carrier strike group and specialized Marine units scheduled to arrive in mid-November. While Trump reportedly aims for a rapid campaign lasting three to four days, operational realities may necessitate extended preparations. Key targets could include underground facilities such as Fordow, enabling Washington to claim significant setbacks to Iran's nuclear program.
At the same time, Israeli defense establishment officials harbor concerns regarding potential divergences in strategic objectives. While Washington focuses primarily on the nuclear program and energy infrastructure, Jerusalem maintains a broader target list that includes Iran's missile array, pointing to potential policy gaps between the allies.
