49-year-old man suffers severe injuries on famous Spanish roller coaster

Panic broke out at the Warner Madrid park in Spain on Saturday after a 49-year-old man was injured during a ride on the "Batman Gotham City Escape" roller coaster. Rescue teams arriving at the scene discovered that the man had suffered fractures to both legs. He received initial treatment on-site before being evacuated by helicopter to a hospital. The ride has been suspended and remains closed while authorities investigate the circumstances.
The incident occurred at the Warner park in San Martín de la Vega, near Madrid. Emergency services described the man's injuries as potentially severe, reporting an open fracture to his left leg and a closed fracture to his right leg.
Following the accident, the park's emergency protocols were immediately activated. Medical teams stabilized the patient on-site before transporting him by helicopter to the 12 de Octubre hospital in Madrid for further examination and treatment.
The event caused distress among visitors in the area. Juan José Molina, who was present at the park, noted that some people were crying and suffering from anxiety attacks. According to reports, other park facilities continued to operate normally. Civil Guard and local police personnel also arrived at the scene to assist.
The exact cause of the injury has not yet been determined. Park management announced that the roller coaster will remain closed while they coordinate with authorities to examine the circumstances of the incident.
"Batman Gotham City Escape," which opened in 2023, is Spain's first Multi-Launch roller coaster, featuring multiple acceleration points along the track rather than relying solely on an initial drop.
The ride reaches a height of 45 meters and a top speed of approximately 104 km/h. The kilometer-long route includes three accelerations, four inversions, and a drop at a sharp 98-degree angle.
