Ukraine Reports Over 1,500 Russian Casualties Amid New US Sanctions Pause
The Ukrainian General Staff reported over 1,500 Russian casualties in a single day as US President Donald Trump paused new sanctions to keep Moscow engaged in talks.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that over 1,500 Russian soldiers were casualties in the past 24 hours. This figure includes both killed and wounded personnel, bringing total estimated losses since February 2022 to approximately 1,568,720.
According to the Ukrainian defense ministry, forces destroyed 9 Russian tanks, 42 artillery systems, and 1,578 drones over the past day. Total estimated Russian losses since the war's start include 12,425 tanks and 449 downed aircraft.
The report follows US President Donald Trump's decision to freeze the implementation of new sanctions against Russia. Trump stated he wanted to avoid any actions that would foolishly push Moscow away from the negotiating table. Meanwhile, Ukraine launched over a thousand drones targeting Russian oil facilities in one of its largest aerial attacks of the conflict.
