IDF: Five terrorists who planned to carry out an attack arrested in Samaria

Duvdevan unit soldiers arrested a cell of five terrorists early this morning (Friday) in Qabatiya in the northern Samaria, who according to the IDF planned to carry out an attack against Israeli citizens and security forces. The operation was carried out under the command of the Menashe Brigade and directed by the Shin Bet, following intelligence efforts that preceded the arrest.

According to the IDF spokesperson, the five terrorists were involved in promoting terror plots. Duvdevan soldiers raided the locations where the suspects were staying and arrested the five in less than ten minutes from the forces' entry.

Following the arrests, the forces conducted searches in the terrorists' homes. During the searches, an M16 rifle was located and confiscated, alongside additional weaponry that according to the IDF was hidden at the site.

The five arrested terrorists were transferred for further investigation by security forces.

A similar incident occurred a few months ago, in which a suspect from Hebron was arrested before he carried out an attack planned for the immediate term. The Shin Bet issued an alert that led to a quick and covert operation by YAMAM fighters in the center of the country, which ended in the arrest of the suspect just before leaving for the attack. According to security officials, he had already completed operational preparations and even left instructions for his family members after his death, a detail that highlights the severity of the threat that was thwarted at the last moment.
