Nearly a decade after their separation, Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire, 51, and jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, 49, are finally approaching the formal conclusion of their marriage. The couple originally parted ways in 2016 after nine years of marriage and two children together, but the divorce proceedings have dragged on for years.
Moving Toward a Resolution
According to court documents filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court on September 18, Meyer noted that she and Maguire have reached an agreement within the divorce process. However, this agreement pertains exclusively to the dissolution of their status as a married couple, meaning the final financial settlement is still being worked out. The pair have agreed to appoint a private judge to help resolve the remaining disputes.
'I have an ex-husband today who is my best friend and would do anything for me, and I would do anything for him,' Meyer said on a recent podcast appearance, praising Maguire's ongoing support and their unique modern family dynamic.
A Modern Family Dynamic
Meyer officially filed for divorce in 2020, four years after their initial split. They share two children, Ruby, 19, and Otis, 17. In June, Meyer announced on Instagram that she welcomed another daughter with her fiancé, Geoff Ogunlesi. Despite the long-delayed legal paperwork, Meyer and Maguire have maintained a remarkably close and amicable relationship.
