Sydney Sweeney Sparks New Controversy With Second Nude Ad for Novig
Sydney Sweeney sparked fresh debate by posing nude for sports betting platform Novig, following criticism from female athletes over her previous controversial campaign.
A month after causing a major storm with a provocative advertisement, Sydney Sweeney posed nude once again for the betting platform Novig.
"There are older men who made charts about what color underwear I am wearing. Does that flatter me?" wondered the American star.
Later in the video, Sweeney mentioned that on some prediction sites you can bet on almost anything—including grey areas, to put it mildly—while Novig focuses solely on sports.
Recall that in the campaign, featuring the slogan "Just Sports," the "Euphoria" star appeared completely naked, using basketballs, footballs, and other sports equipment to conceal parts of her body. In one scene, she was seen topless sitting on a basketball rim, and in another lying on a billiard table. Throughout the commercial, she repeatedly used the word "sports," concluding with: "You can't trade that, I just look good here."
The commercial, which amassed over 22 million views in two days, drew sharp criticism from female athletes worldwide. Olympic swimming champion Ariarne Titmus, British sprinter Amy Hunt, American gymnast Gracie Kramer, and others argued that the campaign objectifies women and undermines female athletes' struggle for recognition based on their achievements rather than their appearance.
The controversy escalated after it was revealed that Sweeney was not merely a spokesperson. The actress holds shares in Novig and serves as a strategic partner in the company. Company CEO Jacob Fortinsky shared that Sweeney was significantly involved in shaping the visual concepts and messaging of the campaign.
