Hostage Survivor Rom Braslavski Seeks Career in Israeli Media and TV
Rom Braslavski, a survivor of Hamas captivity, is seeking a professional career in Israeli media as a panelist or presenter, asking the public if they will accept him for his opinions.
Rom Braslavski, a survivor of Hamas captivity who has become a prominent figure in Israeli public discourse, is now looking to take the next step by entering the media industry. On Sunday, Braslavski posted a message on X announcing that he is seeking employment as a media panelist or presenter, mentioning 103FM radio as a potential destination.
Seeking Professional Recognition
Alongside his professional job hunt, Braslavski posed a sharp and direct question to his followers, asking whether the public would want to see him on screen purely as an opinionated commentator rather than solely through the lens of his captivity trauma.
"Do you want to see me on screen not as a captivity survivor, but as someone with an opinion? Or do you only click 'like' when I shed tears over my bitter fate in Gaza?"
Media Criticism and Activism
Braslavski has frequently appeared in studios, including Channel 14 and 103FM, but he has also been vocal in critiquing media figures. Last week, he publicly criticized Channel 12 journalist Michal Peylan over her coverage of fellow survivors. Braslavski contrasted Peylan with Guy Lerer, host of Channel 13's The Pipeline, praising Lerer for active support that included launching a crowdfunding campaign that helped save his life. Braslavski also noted that he recently secured $3,000 from a US donor to aid struggling survivors and combat veterans.
By openly seeking a professional media role, Braslavski aims to transform his frequent public appearances into a lasting career in journalism and commentary.
