Following the complaint: Brigadier General Abudraham to be discharged from the police "due to his health condition"

Police Commissioner, Rav-Nitzav Dani Levy, approved this evening (Tuesday) for Brigadier General Lior Abudraham, former head of the Police Spokesperson's Unit, to take voluntary retirement due to "health problems".

In a message, Levy wrote to Abudraham: "Your health condition does not allow for continued service, and therefore I am forced to notify you of the termination of your service in the Israel Police".

Abudraham was questioned about three months ago at the Competition Authority following a complaint by the Commissioner of the Israel Prison Service (IPS), Rav-Gundar Kobi Yaakobi, who claimed that he had a personal relationship with an investigator from the Police Internal Investigations Department (Mahash). At that time, a message was distributed to police spokespersons stating that Brigadier General Abudraham would be absent from work for several days due to a "medical procedure on his leg".

As first published on Channel 13 News, Abudraham was questioned under caution on suspicion of sexually harassing a senior female officer. The interrogation was conducted at the Competition Authority and not at the Mahash, because the complainant provided a recording that allegedly proves a romance took place between him and a Mahash investigator. At the end of his interrogation, Abudraham was released under restrictive conditions.

The officer testified that the harassment occurred this year, at the end of an event in which the two participated together with other police officers. According to the complainant, she took a ride with Abudraham, and during the trip he made crude sexual comments towards her. Abudraham was questioned about this and denied the allegations.

The investigation led to turmoil in the police, and a shake-up in the senior command staff is expected. Police sources said: "The Commissioner will have to conduct an internal audit and bring order to everything related to the senior command staff and the strained relationships there".

Brigadier General Abudraham is the key witness against IPS Commissioner Rav-Gundar Kobi Yaakobi, who is suspected in the case of Minister Itamar Ben Gvir's associates. Yaakobi claimed that Abudraham maintained a relationship with an investigator from Mahash. Following this claim, Abudraham passed a polygraph test, which determined that he had no connection to the investigator in question.
