Electric Scooter Catches Fire at Tel Aviv Hahagana Train Station
An electric scooter caught fire Tuesday at the Tel Aviv Hahagana train station. No injuries were reported, and Israel Railways reiterated strict safety rules.
An electric scooter caught fire Tuesday morning as a passenger was disembarking a train at the Tel Aviv Hahagana station. A train inspector quickly moved the scooter away from the train, and the Fire and Rescue services extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported.
Israel Railways stated that the train resumed its journey after necessary safety and integrity checks were conducted on the carriage. Following the incident, the rail operator reiterated that charging scooters, electric bicycles, or batteries inside carriages and stations is strictly prohibited. Power outlets on trains are intended exclusively for charging mobile phones and laptops.
According to rail guidelines, foldable scooters weighing up to 15 kg are permitted on any carriage. Non-foldable scooters or those exceeding 15 kg are allowed only in the designated bicycle carriage. Passengers are required to remain near their scooters during the ride and ensure they do not block doors or aisles.
Rail officials emphasize that riding scooters and bicycles within station premises—including passenger halls, corridors, and platforms—is strictly forbidden. Furthermore, they must not be transported on escalators; passengers must use elevators or stairs instead. Inside the carriage, securing scooters or bicycles to handrails or poles is also prohibited.
