Ramla School Principal Hospitalized Following Violent Parent Attack
A school principal in Ramla was hospitalized following a violent incident involving a student's parents who threatened staff with a stick, prompting union action.
School violence in Israel continues to escalate, culminating in a severe incident at the Juwarish school in Ramla where a principal had to be hospitalized following parental assault and threats.
The incident began during the school day with a verbal altercation among students. The educational staff intervened to separate the pupils and calm the situation, but faced hostility from one of the female students who contacted her mother.
Escalation and Hospitalization
Upon arriving at the school, the mother brandished a stick, hurling curses and threats at the principal and staff. Her son, who accompanied her, joined in the intimidation. Due to the severe threats and concerns for staff safety, the principal called the police. During the confrontation, the principal fell ill and required immediate medical attention, after which she was transferred to a hospital.
"This is an extremely severe incident. Educators who sought to defuse a student dispute found themselves subjected to curses, threats, and a genuine fear for their safety inside their workplace," stated Michael Pinto, Deputy Secretary-General of the Teachers' Union.
Union Response and Delayed Classes
In response to the violence, classes at the Juwarish school in Ramla will start at 10:00 AM. Miriam Friedman, Chair of the Ramla-Lod and District branch, will visit the school to hold explanatory sessions with the teaching staff in the teachers' lounge.
The Teachers' Union emphasized that it will provide full protection and legal backing to ensure educators can work in a safe and protected environment.
