Journalist Raviv Drucker Questioned by Police Over Phone Use While Driving
Journalist Raviv Drucker was questioned by the Israel Police traffic division after footage showed him holding a phone while driving, facing potential fines and points.
Journalist Raviv Drucker was questioned today (Monday) by the traffic division of the Israel Police following footage showing him holding a mobile phone while driving. After being questioned, Drucker was released to his home.
The footage, which was published a few days ago and circulated on social media, was taken from a report broadcast on the "Hamakor" program on Channel 13. Following the publication of the footage, several complaints were filed against the police, including one by Attorney Ilan Bombach on behalf of the Likud party, claiming Drucker filmed himself holding a phone while driving.
The traffic division claimed, on the other hand, that the complaints filed were not what led to Drucker being summoned for questioning. At the end of the investigation, Drucker was released as stated.
The traffic division will now consider how to proceed with the case, with the emerging possibility of handling it through a fine and points, as is customary for offenses involving the use of a mobile phone while driving. According to police guidelines, while a vehicle is in motion, a driver is prohibited from holding a mobile phone or using it except through a hands-free device.
