"Prepared with the highest level of defense": Alertness in Israel over a surprise Iranian attack

The IDF is preparing for a scenario of a surprise attack from Iran. A senior official in the defense establishment clarified on Wednesday that the Operations Directorate under the command of Major General Itzik Cohen has been prepared with the highest level of defense for a long time for any scenario from any arena. In addition, according to him, technological improvements have been carried out in recent months that upgrade the level of protection for the Israeli home front.

Against the backdrop of Iran's attacks on American military bases in Jordan, the head of the Operations Directorate instructed the General Staff bodies to prepare for a surprise scenario, in which the Iranians would try to attack Israel and accordingly the IDF would be required to respond alone or in conjunction with the United States.

Meanwhile, the IDF emphasized that the Chief of Staff refines the operational plans for defense and offense every few days and approves the improvements. This is against the backdrop of a constant decision-making process in the Intelligence Directorate headed by Major General Shlomi Binder, which validates the warning mechanisms against an attack from the Iranian space.

In such a situation, security sources estimate that there will be "two main states of alertness": on a short timeline and a long timeline, which will allow for better preparation for an attack. At the same time, the IDF emphasized that the level of coordination with the American military is maintained at the highest level and is carried out daily around the clock.
