How an Israeli Influencer Turned a Social Media Theft into a Win
Israeli influencer Odia Pinto shared a hilarious story at a Tel Aviv star-studded event about how a follower stole her gift card from an Instagram story.

Odia Pinto, one of Israel's most prominent content creators and influencers, recently turned an online mishap into a moment of unexpected humor. Known for her unfiltered and candid content about daily life, marriage, and fashion, Pinto shared a hilarious anecdote during a star-studded event held at Hangar 11 in Tel Aviv.
The Great Gift Card Heist
The event, organized by BUYME under the whimsical concept of "BUYME Wonderland," drew hundreds of industry leaders, celebrities, and influencers, including Maya Wertheimer, Liel Eli, Bar Zomer, and mentalist Lior Suchard. Speaking to the ice news site, Pinto revealed how she almost missed the celebration due to an embarrassing social media slip-up.
"My mother-in-law always gives me BUYME gifts since I married Elior. For Rosh Hashanah she gave me one, and I posted it on my story as an example of how mothers-in-law should treat their daughters-in-law," Pinto recounted with a laugh. Unfortunately, a sharp-eyed follower decided to capitalize on the moment. "Someone stole my gift card right off the story. They didn't even leave me a shekel!"
Turning Lemons into Lemonade
Pinto described the mortifying moment she realized the voucher had been drained while trying to buy clothes at a Castro store. Fortunately, after contacting customer service, BUYME stepped in and restored the stolen funds down to the last shekel, paving her way to the dazzling event.
Beyond social media dramas, Pinto also opened up about balancing her demanding digital career with her marriage to Elior, emphasizing the stability they find by unplugging completely during Shabbat. With her sharp business sense, unapologetic humor, and growing success, Pinto continues to prove she is a unique force in the Israeli digital landscape.
