From New Love to Survivor: Lir Oz Opens Up About Reality TV and Personal Tragedy
Reality star Lir Oz trades romance for the Survivor island in a new season. In a candid interview, she discusses her strategy, coping with longing, and financial resilience.

Lir Oz burst into our lives on the reality show "New Love", where she also found true love with her partner, Shahar Mana. Now, she is swapping romantic dates for dusty swimsuits, heading out to conquer the island in the new season of "Survivor" on Reshet 13. In a special interview with the ice website ahead of the season launch, she reveals the difficulties, personal tragedy, and strategy on the path to the million.
The Mental Hardship of the Island
"It's a crazy experience," Oz says about her time on the island. "No matter how much they tried to prepare me and how much I researched, I didn't think it would be like this in a million years. I didn't think it was so real and so difficult, and until you're there, you just don't understand it."
"The longing is something that burns from the inside."
To cope, she and her partner created an agreed-upon sign related to the moon. "Both of us talked to it, and that's how it felt to me every time... That's what kept me human on the island, a moment of peace."
Coming to Win the Million
Those expecting to see the same Lir from "New Love" are in for a surprise. "In 'New Love' I won love, I came to 'Survivor' to take the million," she declares with confidence, promising to show sides of competitiveness, sportsmanship, and strategy: "I came to win."
When the conversation turns to financial matters, Oz shares with rare candor about her dependence on her partner following a family tragedy. "My financial tip is my partner. Every week he makes me a financial template... he taught me everything."
With a painful reference to her late mother, she shares: "I took care of my mother and she took care of everything for me, and when she passed away, she left me completely clueless with zero knowledge about anything, and he really taught me everything from scratch."
If she wins the million, her goal is clear: "In the end it's just me, I don't have parents to help me, so I think we'll invest wisely and build a life."
