Operated by foreign intelligence: indictment against an Israeli citizen

The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment on Friday at the Central District Court against an Israeli citizen for security offenses, requesting detention until the end of proceedings. This legal action follows a complex joint investigation by the Shin Bet and the Israel Police, which uncovered suspicions of hostile activity against the state.

As part of the investigation, it emerged that the defendant was operated by foreign intelligence elements and was involved in foreign influence activity. Upon the conclusion of the investigation, an evidentiary basis was established, leading to the filing of the indictment by the Central District Attorney's Office. The individual exploited his citizenship to carry out missions assigned to him by foreign intelligence services.

The court granted the request of the security agencies and permitted the publication of only a paraphrase of the investigation details, while all other information regarding the affair remains under a strict gag order.
