OpenAI unveiled Dots at DevDay 2026, cloud-based AI agents capable of autonomous task execution, alongside ChatGPT Space for collaborative teamwork.
OpenAI is hosting its annual DevDay 2026 developer conference, featuring major announcements in the artificial intelligence sector. The centerpiece of the event is the introduction of Dots, autonomous AI agents operating in the cloud.
Your personal Dot receives a name and a distinct avatar, capable of handling complex tasks autonomously while you continue working. The agent pauses only to request crucial decisions or approvals for actions such as sending emails, making payments, or publishing content. Initially, users receive one Dot, with multi-agent support rolling out later. Users can also set strict financial and operational boundaries, such as predefined budget limits.
A key advantage of OpenAI's launch is immediate integration with more than 4,000 existing applications that already connect with ChatGPT, allowing seamless interoperability right from the start.
Additionally, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Space, a collaborative environment designed to compete with Google Workspace. This platform allows multiple colleagues and Dots to work together simultaneously within shared threads and documents, with plans to introduce automated presentation generation in the near future.
Dots is available starting today for Pro, Business Premium, and Enterprise users, without deducting from standard usage quotas.
