Attorney General Bars Live Broadcast of Netanyahu's Bahad 1 Graduation Speech
Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara has banned the live broadcast of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech at an upcoming military graduation ceremony over election propaganda concerns.
Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara instructed on Wednesday that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming speech at the IDF officers' graduation ceremony at Bahad 1 will not be broadcast live. The decision follows an unusual request from the IDF to the Attorney General over concerns regarding potential illegal election propaganda.
Citizens had raised concerns with the military ahead of the address, recalling past electoral law violations by Netanyahu. Consequently, the IDF sought legal clarity, leading the Attorney General to direct the Prime Minister's Office legal advisory team to review the speech in advance.
This development comes amid heightened political tensions ahead of the upcoming Knesset elections. Earlier this week, opposition figure and "Yashar" party leader Gadi Eisenkot faced criticism after fake draft notices were sent to citizens as part of an election campaign tactic, which also constitutes a violation of propaganda laws.
