Malaysian drummer Raja Azrin Raja Talib died on stage during a performance by his band Meditasi at a rock festival in Malaysia, after only two songs. According to reports from the scene, 56-year-old Talib suddenly collapsed behind his drum kit at the Trontum Rock festival and was taken to a nearby hospital, where his death was pronounced.

"I ran to him, but I felt that he was already gone," the band's lead singer, Bakarudin Daud, also known as Bran, told the Malaysian newspaper Berita Harian. — "I called out to him and patted him, but there was no response. His body was already cold."

According to him, the fans at the scene were frightened when they saw what was happening, and he himself was truly shocked and very saddened by the death of his bandmate.

Bran said that Talib did not show signs of a medical problem before going on stage. "He was really happy to meet friends. He didn't look sad or unhealthy," he said. His older brother, Raja, said that after the collapse, he was given respiratory assistance, but he did not regain consciousness. According to the report, the cause of death is likely related to heart complications.

Both Talib's brother and Bran said that the drummer had recently been diagnosed with diabetes. The brother added that Talib was hospitalized in June due to heart problems: "He was hospitalized twice; the first hospitalization lasted two to three weeks before he was hospitalized again." According to him, extreme fatigue may have affected his heart, as Talib arrived at the music festival directly from a BMX competition.

Meditasi was formed in 1983 under the name Metal Wizard and changed its name in 1989. The band broke through during the golden age of Malaysian rock in the 90s, with rock and power ballads in the Malay language. After a temporary hiatus, it reunited in 2015, and today it has more than 46,000 monthly listeners on Spotify.
