Police Investigate Israeli Model Over Alleged Drugging of Billionaire Ex-Fiancé
Beverly Hills police are investigating whether Israeli model Adva Lavi drugged her former fiancé, billionaire Stephen Cloobeck, with ketamine. The probe emerged from recent search warrants tied to separate theft charges.
Beverly Hills police are investigating whether Israeli model and OnlyFans creator Adva Lavi, accused of a string of thefts from wealthy men she met through dating apps, drugged her former fiancé, billionaire real estate tycoon Stephen Cloobeck, with ketamine. The investigation was revealed Thursday by the Los Angeles Times and local ABC affiliate, which reviewed a search warrant filed last month.
The suspicion of drugging has not yet materialized into formal charges against Lavi, 29, who also goes by the names Shoshana, Shayna, and Mia Ventura in court documents. In an August application seeking permission to search her phone, LAPD Detective Andrea Marsh wrote that Beverly Hills Police Detective Steve Owen was already familiar with Lavi because he was investigating whether she had drugged her fiancé Cloobeck with ketamine. According to the newspaper, Cloobeck had previously filed a complaint with the Beverly Hills Police Department, though the details of the complaint and the circumstances leading to the opening of the investigation have not been disclosed. The police declined to comment, and Lavi's attorney, Jeremy Lessem, also declined to address the suspicion.
Business Tycoon and Political Figure
Cloobeck, 64, is a real estate developer and the founder and former CEO of Diamond Resorts International, a well-known figure in Democratic circles and a political donor. He even made a brief run for governor of California in the 2026 election.
The relationship between Cloobeck and Lavi was, until recently, deeply personal. The two got engaged in February and planned to marry in Jerusalem in June, even sending out "Save the Date" messages to family and friends. Initially, reports indicated the wedding was scheduled to take place near the Western Wall on June 18. However, Lavi's legal troubles disrupted the plans: a court ordered her to surrender her passport and prohibited her from leaving California without permission. Subsequently, in early June, the engagement was called off, and wedding plans were scrapped. According to later reports, Lavi also moved out of Cloobeck's Beverly Hills home. A source close to the pair said at the time that they remained in contact, but no official reason for the split was provided.
Additional Investigations and Arrest
The search warrant also exposes another incident involving a former friend of Lavi. According to ABC7, the woman attended a dinner party at Cloobeck's home where Lavi was also present. After dinner, she noticed her purse had been moved and discovered her engagement ring was missing. When she asked Lavi to help her find the ring, the warrant states, Lavi immediately became defensive and called the friend "drunk."
According to the court document, the friend had previously written a letter of support for Lavi as part of her bid to enter a mental health diversion program instead of facing criminal prosecution. Following the ring incident, the warrant states, Lavi told her she no longer needed the letter. Lavi's request for an alternative mental health procedure was later rejected by a judge.
The ketamine investigation came to light during an unrelated incident. On July 28, Detective Owen spotted Lavi taking photos at the Region restaurant in Beverly Hills while she was out on bail. He noticed she was not wearing the electronic ankle monitor ordered by the court. When he checked with monitoring authorities, it turned out the device was transmitting from the nearby Peninsula luxury hotel, and Lavi was promptly arrested.
Lavi is already charged in a separate case with theft and burglary. Los Angeles prosecutors allege that between 2023 and 2025, she used dating apps and personal connections to befriend older, affluent men and younger women, gain access to their homes, and steal cash, gold, and luxury items. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Cloobeck himself has also become entangled in the legal drama: in May, he was arrested and charged with three counts of attempting to dissuade a witness from testifying and one count of making harassing phone calls in connection with the case against Lavi. In August, he pleaded not guilty, and his defense attorney previously maintained that the charges against him are groundless.
