Military Police arrested an ultra-Orthodox draft dodger in the Bayit Vegan neighborhood of Jerusalem. According to his family, he was lured out under the pretext of signing for a delivery.
Security camera footage captured the suspect conversing with a military police officer, attempting to flee upon realizing the situation, and subsequently being detained by a second officer. Within roughly 20 seconds, the individual was forced into a vehicle and driven away.
Recent months have seen Military Police struggling to conduct planned arrests of ultra-Orthodox draft dodgers, typically relying on border checks at Ben Gurion Airport or random traffic stops. Meanwhile, the Attorney General reported a total of 110,000 draft evaders, primarily from the ultra-Orthodox community.
