Likud Petitions to Disqualify Ra'am from 26th Knesset Elections

The Likud party has petitioned to disqualify the Ra'am party from running in the 26th Knesset elections. Central Election Committee Chairman and Supreme Court Deputy President Justice Noam Solberg ordered Ra'am to respond by Friday, September 18, at 12:00 PM. Solberg also ruled that the Attorney General must submit her position by September 22 at 2:00 PM, emphasizing that no extensions will be granted due to the tight schedule.
The decision does not address the merits of Likud's claims at this stage nor does it determine whether grounds exist to disqualify Ra'am. The petition was filed by Likud via attorney Ilan Bombach, asking the Central Election Committee to rule that Ra'am is barred from participating in the elections.
Likud's request is one of three separate petitions filed so far against the Ra'am list. Additional disqualification requests were submitted by Otzma Yehudit and the "Choosing Life" forum. In total, 10 petitions to disqualify lists and candidates have been submitted to the Central Election Committee so far, with plenary discussions expected next week.
The petition was submitted under Article 7A of the Basic Law: The Knesset, which regulates the grounds for barring candidate lists or individuals from participating in elections. Following the established schedule, Ra'am will submit its response first, followed by the Attorney General's official stance.
