Lebanese PM Warns Against Dragging Country Into New Foreign War
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam warned against dragging the country into a new war for foreign interests, stressing that peace and war decisions belong solely to the state.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam warned today against dragging his country into a new war driven by foreign interests, emphasizing that the decision of war and peace must remain exclusively in the hands of the state and its constitutional institutions.
Speaking after a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to discuss the regional situation and the agenda for the upcoming cabinet session, Salam cautioned against the consequences of entangling Lebanon in an absurd adventure that the nation cannot bear. He noted that the Lebanese people, particularly residents of the country's south, have already paid a heavy price in lives, livelihoods, and homes.
Salam stated that protecting Lebanon requires placing national interests above all other considerations and consolidating the authority over war and peace within state institutions. He added that the leadership's primary duty is to safeguard state sovereignty and protect its citizens from further destruction.
Furthermore, Salam strongly condemned the interference of Lebanese groups in the internal affairs of Arab nations, specifically citing military activities that threaten regional security. He stressed that his government is fully committed to respecting the sovereignty and security of Arab states.
