Lebanese President Joseph Aoun clarified that he opposes turning southern Lebanon into a lawless zone or a bargaining chip. Meanwhile, Beirut is waiting for Washington to set the date for the next round of negotiations with Israel. Lebanese sources denied reports of an imminent operation on the Ali al-Tahir ridge.

According to diplomatic sources, Rome has drafted a document outlining the roles of the new international force intended to replace UNIFIL. The Italians propose supporting the Lebanese army logistically and operationally, and assisting it in demilitarization tasks. However, the Lebanese army commander expressed opposition to the latter point.

Sources within the US administration confirmed that policy toward Hezbollah has not changed. The clarification followed remarks by US envoy Tom Burke, who suggested including the group in talks before retracting his statement.

According to Aoun, achieving an IDF withdrawal from Lebanon, the release of prisoners, and the reconstruction of the country "cannot be achieved through war." Contacts continue despite gaps regarding the disarmament of Hezbollah and the pressure exerted on the leadership in Beirut.

According to a report in Lebanon, the terrorist organization is refraining from action on the ground, convinced that the agreement is inapplicable. Meanwhile, President Aoun has proposed establishing an alternative international force to replace UNIFIL and ensure implementation.
