Former Mossad Chief Yossi Cohen: 'We visited the nuclear site in Fordow many times'
The former Mossad chief addressed the US strike on the underground nuclear facility in Iran, calling it 'the fulfillment of all my dreams.' Cohen revealed that his organization's personnel visited the site to study it in depth, but added a caveat regarding the current danger of enrichment.
Former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen revealed on Tuesday additional details about Israeli intelligence activity at the heart of the Iranian nuclear program. In his remarks, Cohen addressed the underground uranium enrichment facility in Fordow and said that the organization's personnel visited it repeatedly with the goal of gathering precise intelligence.
'We visited the nuclear site in Fordow many times in order to understand the site,' he said.
In his remarks at the Galilee Conference, Cohen also addressed the US strike on the underground facility and defined the bombing of the site by the US military as 'the fulfillment of all my dreams.' Alongside this, the former Mossad chief sought to set a professional caveat regarding the current state of the program, clarifying that uranium enrichment to a level of 60 percent, even though it constitutes a grave and worrying step, still does not mean the possession of operational nuclear weapons.
'60 percent enriched uranium is still far from a bomb,' Cohen concluded.
Last April, Cohen delivered a sharp speech regarding the negotiations with Iran and called not to mislead the public regarding Tehran's true intentions. He clarified that the Iranians will continue to lie, and 'we must not trust them. No agreement and no ceasefire will change their fundamental aspirations.'
