Israeli Ambassador to Germany Ron Prosor declared on Tuesday morning his support for Germany's bid to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In doing so, Prosor became the first foreign ambassador in the country to openly favor the proposal.

"Hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Germany will send a strong message. Not despite its history, but precisely because of it," Prosor said in a video uploaded by the embassy to social media. "The relations between Israel and Germany prove how trust and friendship can grow out of historical responsibility."

The video, filmed at the ambassador's official residence against the backdrop of the 'Berlin Bear' (the city's symbol), sparked widespread positive feedback from the German government and media. Among others, Iris Spranger, the Senator and Minister for Interior and Sports of Berlin, welcomed the remarks, noting that it is a "valuable sign of trust, closeness, and friendship."
