The remark that Eyal Shani did not like at all: "Tell me, have you gone crazy?"
Emotions are a basic commodity for every chef and cook, and even more so when it comes to esteemed chefs like the judges of "MasterChef". In the last episode that aired, the judges thought about what they would prepare as an inspiration for the famous herring sandwich of the Ansky family - something that triggered a remark from Chef Biton, and a response from Eyal Shani who did not really like it.
In the episode of MasterChef that aired last night (Sunday), judge Michal Ansky brought her mother, Sherry Ansky's, herring sandwich. The contestants were asked to draw inspiration from the Ansky family's herring sandwich, and as they approached the cooking, the judges discussed, as they often do, what they would do. But even they did not believe the emotions it would trigger from Eyal Shani.
"I would make a potato burekas, open it and arrange thin slices of herring with a poached egg inside," said Chef Avi Biton, when Chef Yuval Ben Neria remarked with a smile that it was a banal thought. "And I would also put fresh vegetables on the side."
When it was Shani's turn, he explained that he would prepare polenta with a fillet of matias fish. "You wouldn't pass, I disqualify you because the task is dough and pickling," Biton told him - and Eyal flared up: "Tell me, have you gone crazy? Is polenta not dough? I want to understand. It is the mother of dough." Biton could not stop laughing and only admitted: "You're right, sorry."
