Israel Railways Train Fails to Stop at Lehavim-Rahat Station, Stranding Commuters
An Israel Railways train bound for Nahariya sped past the Lehavim-Rahat station without stopping on Tuesday morning, leaving hundreds of angry commuters stranded due to an operational error.

A train departing on Tuesday morning from the Be'er Sheva Center station toward Nahariya, which was scheduled to stop at the Lehavim-Rahat railway station at 7:59 AM, drove past the platform at high speed without stopping, leaving hundreds of commuters stranded and angry.
According to eyewitnesses, hundreds of residents who were waiting on the platform expecting to board the train as they do every day suddenly saw it speed past them, leaving them stunned.
P., a resident of Lehavim who works in Tel Aviv, shared his experience:
"I arrived at the station as I do every day and waited for the train. I have to be in Tel Aviv by 9:30 AM, and this is my only option. We are used to express trains passing through without stopping, so at first, I was sure it was just one of those fast trains that had been delayed."
He added:
"Five minutes after the train passed, I noticed that the schedule screens did not show any delay for our scheduled train. A few minutes later, the station announcer declared that the 7:59 AM train was canceled due to a technical malfunction. That is when we realized it was the exact train that had just sped past us. Everyone was furious. What kind of technical malfunction is that? It sounds like an excuse. Hundreds of people were left stranded and will be late for work. They should at least tell us what the issue was, and why they did not announce it before the train passed."
It was later revealed that the incident was caused by an operational error in the train's scheduled stops document. The exact cause of the failure is still under investigation.
Israel Railways Response:
"This was an operational error that is currently being investigated. For the passengers at the Lehavim-Rahat station, a special stop was added to the next train. We apologize for the inconvenience and remind passengers that they are entitled to compensation, which can be claimed by contacting our customer service channels."
