Iran Threatens New Red Sea Front as Israel Warns of Potential Strikes
Iran threatened to open a new front near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait if the US initiates a conflict, while Israeli sources warn that fresh strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities are increasingly likely.
A military adviser to Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran's supreme leader, threatened that if the United States initiates a new conflict, Tehran could open a new front around the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. Simultaneously, an Israeli source told the Saudi channel Al-Hadath that a new round of strikes in Iran appears to be a matter of time, noting that Tehran is accelerating the protection of its nuclear project at the Kuh-e Kolang Gaz La mountain near Natanz.
Iranian Threats and Hormuz Strait
"We hope a new war will not break out, but if a war is imposed on us, we are ready to defend ourselves," the Iranian adviser stated. He added that Iran could consider alternative mechanisms for ship transit through the Strait of Hormuz if Washington cooperates, claiming an agreement was reached with Oman regarding maritime traffic that the US is allegedly blocking.
UN General Assembly and Diplomatic Contacts
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed the UN General Assembly in New York, displaying a picture of the eliminated supreme leader Ali Khamenei. Pezeshkian asserted that Iran seeks nuclear energy rather than a bomb and will not surrender to military aggression or sanctions.
"Donald Trump must know that threats unite us, and we will never surrender to sanctions," Pezeshkian declared during his UN address.
Earlier, Tehran announced that indirect talks with the US were held on the sidelines of the UN assembly via a Qatari mediator, detailing demands that include a comprehensive ceasefire, the end of the maritime blockade, and the release of frozen Iranian assets.
Israeli Security Assessments
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a security assessment amid estimations by senior Israeli officials that the Iranian front could soon escalate. A senior military officer stated that the IDF is preparing for several core scenarios, including a direct missile exchange, a joint US-backed campaign, or an independent Israeli operation against Iranian targets.
