IDF Unveils Fully Robotic Combat Team to Minimize Troop Exposure
The IDF has unveiled a fully robotic maneuvering combat team integrating autonomous vehicles, robotic dogs, and advanced drones to protect troops. Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir inspected the unit during a tour of southern Lebanon.

The Israel Defense Forces have unveiled a fully robotic maneuvering combat team, integrating autonomous heavy machinery and advanced unmanned systems to minimize troop exposure in combat zones.
During a visit to southern Lebanon's eastern sector, IDF Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir inspected the robotic combat team deployed by the 769th Brigade and operated by the 869th Combat Intelligence Collection Battalion.
"You have presented the robotic combat team model for the first time," Zamir stated during the briefing in the village of al-Khiam. "This model reinforces the principle that the IDF operates ahead of the citizens, deploying technological assets before and alongside our forces to increase operational effectiveness and strengthen the protection of our troops."
The newly revealed combat team comprises remote-controlled and autonomous platforms, including armored personnel carriers and D9 bulldozers. Robotic dogs spearhead troop movements to detect explosive devices, while advanced drones systematically scan multi-story buildings, underground tunnels, and confined spaces across all lighting conditions.
Military officials emphasized that infantry units no longer enter structures or tunnels before thorough robotic and aerial reconnaissance is completed. Furthermore, the operational drones possess precision engagement capabilities to neutralize threats encountered during subterranean scans.
"This is a significant qualitative leap," Zamir added, praising the close coordination between the Northern Command and the Ground Forces while instructing commanders to accelerate the integration of robotic capabilities across all combat echelons to secure operational superiority.
