Lebanon has received an American message stating that the situation at the Ali al-Tahar ridge and its surroundings will remain unchanged for now. The IDF will continue to hold its positions and military deployment in the area.
According to the Lebanese newspaper Nidaa al-Watan, the future control of the ridge is expected to be a central focus of the eighth round of negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, scheduled for October. The possibility of Israel handing over the ridge to the Lebanese army will be discussed under American mediation.
Israeli Operations and Political Context
In recent weeks, the Ali al-Tahar ridge has become a major flashpoint. Israel expanded its operations in the region, citing actions against Hezbollah infrastructure, while Lebanon increased pressure to restore state control.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made it clear that Israel will continue to operate against terror infrastructure in the security zone in Lebanon and will work to remove threats against Israel.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke by phone with Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri to discuss regional developments and the situation in southern Lebanon, emphasizing Tehran's full support for the Lebanese resistance.
