IDF Forces Eliminate Suspect Attempting Weapon Grab During West Bank Raid
IDF forces are investigating an incident early Tuesday in which an elite unit shot and killed a Palestinian suspect who attempted to seize a soldier's weapon during a counter-terrorism arrest operation in the village of Ein Umm Ashrayt, located in the Binyamin region.
According to an initial probe by the Judea and Samaria Division, the specialized unit isolated a terror suspect from other household members. At one point, the suspect's brother lunged at a soldier and tried to snatch his firearm. A nearby soldier opened fire, neutralizing the attacker. Medical treatment was administered at the scene before the suspect was evacuated, but he died of his wounds en route to the hospital.
Security Forces Arrest Immediate Shooting Threat in Hebron
In a separate security development, IDF forces acting on precise Shin Bet intelligence arrested a terror suspect who planned an imminent shooting attack during the holiday. Security agencies tracked social media posts where the suspect, identified as Abd al-Rahman, declared his intent to target Israeli civilians and military forces.
"IDF forces operating in the city of Hebron under the Judea brigade arrested, based on Shin Bet intelligence, a terrorist who planned to carry out an immediate shooting attack against citizens of the State of Israel," the military stated in a Telegram update.
Judea and Samaria Division Conducts Surprise Readiness Drill
Amid ongoing security tensions, the Judea and Samaria Division recently concluded a massive, unannounced surprise drill involving all 24 battalions deployed across the West Bank. Initiated in secrecy by division commander Brig. Gen. Kobi Heller, the exercise simulated a sudden multi-front assault mirroring the October 7, 2023 onslaught.
The large-scale drill tested troop deployment speeds, firepower integration, and coordination protocols between the IDF, Israel Police, Magen David Adom, and local community security squads.
