Following the war in Ukraine, the ongoing war in Gaza, and Iranian attacks against its neighbors, the drone threat has become a primary challenge for militaries worldwide. Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has unveiled HawkGuard, an active defense system designed to intercept drones and aerial threats.

The system combines radar, electro-optical sensors, artificial intelligence-based command and control systems, and interceptor drones into an integrated solution. It protects strategic infrastructure, assets, armored vehicles, and maneuvering forces.

Advanced Interception Technology

HawkGuard provides kinetic interception capabilities using an interceptor drone without a warhead or explosive charge. This ensures safe neutralization without blast effects or secondary explosions, and the system can handle multiple threats simultaneously.

IAI CEO Guy Bar Lev stated:

In a world of complex aerial threats, there is no single solution that fits every scenario. HawkGuard adds a new interception capability to our multi-layered defense array.

Operational Deployment

According to IAI, the system recently completed a successful series of tests demonstrating its ability to neutralize diverse drone threats. The IDF has already deployed HawkGuard at several sites in northern and southern regions to protect maneuvering forces.

ELTA CEO Dror Bar noted that the rapid evolution of the battlefield requires flexible solutions. The combination of advanced detection, AI control, and kinetic interception offers a cost-effective approach to point defense.
