Four Indicted for Attempted Hashish Smuggling Across Jordanian Border

The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment in the Nof HaGalil District Court against Bassam Abu Al-Duba from I'billin, Moussa Al-Salamhi from Abu Qureinat, and Ahed Qasim from Nof HaGalil, accusing them of attempting to smuggle approximately 17 kilograms of hashish from Israel to Jordan. A separate indictment was filed against a minor allegedly involved in the incident.

According to the indictment, the three conspired to export the drugs by throwing them over the border fence. On August 22, Abu Al-Duba and Al-Salamhi traveled from the south of the country to Nof HaGalil and met with Qasim and the minor. The hashish, hidden beneath the spare tire of another vehicle, was transported using a shopping cart to a warehouse in a building.

Subsequently, Qasim and the minor drove the drugs to an area near Maoz Haim and the Jordanian border. During the drive, Qasim promised the minor a payment of 10,000 shekels for his part in the smuggling operation.

At the border area, the drugs were divided into three sacks. While Al-Salamhi remained to watch, Abu Al-Duba and Qasim drove toward the fence. Around 2:15 AM, the two threw the sacks across the border and waited until they landed on Jordanian territory.

On their way back, the two allegedly attempted to flee from security forces, but were arrested alongside Al-Salamhi and the minor. Simultaneously, 36 packages of hashish weighing a total of approximately 17 kg were seized on the Jordanian side.

The four suspects face charges of exporting dangerous drugs and violating state sovereignty at the borders. The prosecution has requested to detain them until the end of proceedings, and in the event of a conviction, to declare the adults as drug traffickers and confiscate 15,000 dollars and 3,370 shekels seized in their possession.
