Hapoel Jerusalem Closing In on Deal for Former Maccabi Guard Lorenzo Brown

Hapoel Jerusalem is closing in on an agreement with former Maccabi Tel Aviv guard Lorenzo Brown, who is currently under contract with Olimpia Milano. Over the weekend, the Reds held extensive talks with the guard and his representatives, and club officials believe the deal can be finalized soon. If the transfer goes through, Brown is expected to arrive in Israel in the coming days.

Brown, 36, is signed with Milano for two years, but after just one season with the Italian club, he was informed that he is not part of their tactical plans for the current campaign. Despite mutual desires to part ways, Milano has raised obstacles in finding a resolution to facilitate his release.

The guard publicly expressed his desire to leave, posting a brief two-word message on X: "Release me." This made it clear that his intention to end his tenure with the Italian side remains unchanged, while both parties work out a solution.

Jerusalem officials are confident that the issue with Milano can be resolved and Brown's signing completed. The guard is well-known to Israeli fans from his time with Maccabi Tel Aviv between 2022 and 2024, where he helped lead the team to the EuroLeague playoffs in 2023 and 2024.

The main question mark surrounding Brown concerns his physical conditioning. The guard did not participate in team training this summer and thus lacks full match fitness. However, estimates suggest that after a brief training period, he will gradually regain his form and be ready to return to the court.
