Mourning in the restaurant world: owner of a beloved institution passes away
Yosef (Yoshko) Mashiach, who founded "Burekas Yoshko" in Ramle four decades ago, has passed away. Beyond the business that became a landmark far beyond the city, he leaves behind a legacy of volunteering and kindness.
Ramle is saying goodbye to Yosef (Yoshko) Mashiach, a beloved and iconic figure in the city, who has passed away. About 40 years ago, Mashiach and his partner Gadi founded "Burekas Yoshko" on Klausner Street, a spot that grew from a local favorite into a destination for customers from all over the country.
The business evolved over the years; at one point, Yoshko left to establish a dedicated burekas factory, only to return later and renew his partnership with Gadi. The restaurant was renowned for its unique atmosphere—a blend of music, humor, and joy—centered around the triangular burekas that became its signature hallmark.
Yet, to those who knew him, Yoshko was much more than a business owner. For years, he was deeply involved in volunteering and acts of kindness, working closely with the "Yedidim" center. He dedicated his time to collecting furniture and equipment for families in need, often providing support far beyond the scope of his professional life.
Online tributes describe Yoshko as a "man of truth, a lover of peace, and a pursuer of peace" who spent his life acting for the benefit of others. The funeral of Yosef (Yoshko) Mashiach took place on Monday at the new cemetery in Ramle.
