Czech Football Manager Goes Viral for Avoiding Reporter's Gaze
A Czech football manager went viral after avoiding eye contact with a reporter during a post-match interview, explaining that his wife forbids it.

A 3-2 defeat on the pitch can be quite frustrating for any football manager, but in the case of David Oulehla, coach of Czech second-tier club Ústí nad Labem, it was what happened after the final whistle that stole the spotlight. A routine post-match interview turned him into a viral internet star recently, all because of where he deliberately avoided looking.
Standing opposite Oulehla was reporter Sabina Jašková, who wore a low-cut outfit. Yet for nearly a full minute, it seemed the manager was doing almost everything in his power to keep his eyes away from her direction. He glanced to one side, then to the other, and at times simply preferred to focus entirely on the horizon.
The Viral Sensation and the Explanation
This unusual behavior did not go unnoticed by internet users, and the video of the interview quickly spread across social networks. However, the story took an even more amusing turn when the coach himself provided his own explanation for what appeared in the footage.
"My wife doesn't let me look at women like that. She's waiting for me at home, so I have to obey," the Czech manager was quoted as saying after the interview, which took place following a defeat to Opava.
As it turns out, for him, this was hardly a one-time occurrence born spontaneously in front of the cameras. Anyone familiar with the team's interviews could likely recognize that this is a rather familiar habit. Jašková routinely interviews Oulehla after almost every home match, and during these encounters, the coach consistently makes a point of turning his gaze far away from her.
Self-Discipline on and off the Pitch
Thus, a slightly ironic situation unfolded: Ústí nad Labem is in the midst of a fierce battle for promotion to the top flight, the team suffered a dramatic 3-2 loss, but social media users found themselves far more interested in the ironclad self-discipline of the man standing on the sidelines.
Instead of a tactical breakdown or a focus on the disappointing result, the video shone a spotlight on the manager and his visible efforts to keep his eyes in a safe place. Once his comment about the wife waiting at home hit the web, the clip had everything it needed to become the ultimate viral sensation.
