Thirty years after it first premiered on stages across Israel in 1996, the iconic musical "The Jungle Book", directed by Hanoch Rosen, continues its triumphant revival tour, celebrating three decades of theatrical magic.

Returning to the stage nearly two years ago to massive critical and audience acclaim, the production is introducing a brand-new generation of children to the timeless adventures of Mowgli, the human child raised by wolves in the heart of the jungle. Featuring a symphony of breathtaking visuals and memorable melodies, the show bridges past and future.

The Original Cast Returns to the Stage

For upcoming performances at the Haifa Congress Center, original cast members will reprise their unforgettable roles. Tuvia Tzafir returns as Baloo the bear, Sasson Keshet as Bagheera the panther, Eli Danker as Shere Khan the tiger, Yossi Toledo as Kaa the snake, Avi Yaffe as Paki the squirrel, Pini Kidron as the elephant leader, and Eddie Alterman as the king of the monkeys. Audiences will once again enjoy the beloved songs composed by Miron Minster and Ephraim Sidon, who co-adapted the play alongside Rosen, with a contemporary musical arrangement by Ben Schopen.

"In reviving the musical, I felt it was most appropriate to stay true to the original, magical production from 30 years ago, while adding a touch of Broadway flair to the set design, aerial acrobatics, and soundtrack, paired with an energetic troupe of dancers and acrobats," director Hanoch Rosen noted.

A Journey Through Nostalgia and Generations

Originally based on Rudyard Kipling's classic novel and inspired by Walt Disney's animated film adaptation, the musical debuted during Hanukkah in 1996 at the Beit Lessin Theater in Tel Aviv. Its overwhelming popularity led to extended runs well beyond the holiday season. A previous revival in 2002 even featured televised auditions on the Israeli Children's Channel for the role of Mowgli.

While legendary child stars like Tom Avni and Oshri Cohen famously portrayed Mowgli in the 1990s, a new generation of young talent has stepped into those iconic wolf-pack footsteps, ensuring the legend lives on.
