A 20-year-old resident of Bat Yam has been arrested on suspicion of committing online sexual offenses against minors, Israel Police announced on Monday. According to the investigation, the suspect contacted underage girls on social media platforms while posing as a minor himself to gain their trust and commit sexual offenses.

The suspect's detention has been extended by the court until Thursday, September 10, as the investigation continues at the Bat Yam police station within the Ayalon district.

This arrest follows a similar case last week, where an indictment was filed in the Jerusalem District Court against 19-year-old Netanel Toledano of Jerusalem. Toledano is accused of rape, attempted rape, and indecent acts against a 17-year-old girl he met online. According to the indictment, the two met in Jerusalem in the early morning hours about two and a half weeks after making contact online, and went to an apartment rented by the defendant for a few hours in the Talpiot neighborhood. After drinking alcohol, Toledano allegedly began committing sexual acts without her consent.
